Thrive vs. Shakeology

What is Thrive? Thrive is a quick fix. Thrive has several products, the most popular being a patch, that all contain two main ingredients: Caffeine and B 12.  Have you ever seen the Disney movie, Meet the Robinsons? There a scene in the begining of thee movie with a scientist that has created a caffeine patch, and has covered both arms with multiple patches and is spazzing out because she hasn't slept in day. This is how I picture all "Thrivers". The slowest way to absorb nutrients or carcinogens is through your skin. This is how the Thrive patch "transmits" the B12 and caffeine slowly through your dermal layers until it eventually reaches your nervous system. The combination of B 12 and caffeine gives you that "jult" and for some that "jult" stays all day and makes you feel jittery. Its the same feeling that diet pills and too much coffee gives you. Not a pleasant feeling for some folks. Again, this is a quick fix, to "jult" your system and should NOT be used long term. The amount of caffeine and B 12 pumping into your system daily is not needed. A healthy diet, free of caffeine is much healthier long term!
Thrive also offers other products, and "suggests" you take them as well.  Their shake is soy based, so stay far away from that. Soy is very harmful to your body and your hormones. ALL of their products contain caffeine. ALL of them! So when someone says "I have been off coffee since starting my Thrive Experience" All they have done is replace one caffeine for another. Its like switching from coffee to black tea... both are caffeinated...both will wake you up with a "jult" and both are not good for you. Caffeine is an addictive substance and has NO health benefits whats so ever! Also, Thrive will run you $100-$200 a month.... A MONTH!!! For caffeine and B 12 (primarily). Kick your caffeine habit, you can take a B 12 supplement if you want too, but take it sparingly or your body will become dependent on it making it ineffective. Working out and eating clean will give you those same wonderful effects that Thrive markets in a patch! It is not worth the cost, in my honest opinion.

What is Shakeology? Shakeology is a dense superfood packed full of nutrients, minerals, and vitamins in their true forms. Shakeology is a complete package with whey protein, quinoa, chia seeds, maca root, and more nutrients than you normally consume in a whole day! It is the healthiest meal of the day hands down! Shakeology's main ingredients consist of:
1.Whey based protein: helps develop muscle, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, helps promote overall health and wellness. Whey protein helps regulate your thyroid as well!
2. Pea Protein: an easily digestible protein, keeps you fuller longer, and promotes lean muscle development.
3. Pea Fiber: A natural fiber to keep you fuller longer and is linked to maintaining blood sugars.
4. Maca Root: helps regulate hormones and stabilizes your mood and amps up your energy!
5. Chia: is a complete protein (cool!!), fiber-rich, and packed with antioxidants!
6. Flax: has omega-3s and protects against cancer, diabetes, stroke, and heart disease!!
7. Yacon Root: Promotes a healthy gut and helps lower your cholesterol!

Shakeology can be used as a meal replacement or as a nutritious snack. Each shake contains 140-160 calories depending on the flavor and 16-17 grams of whey protein. The protein sustains you and helps refuel you after your workout. Shakeology is non-GMO, has no artificial flavors, and contains all natural and wholesome ingredients. Shakeology, paired with exercise and a clean diet, will give you energy, make you clear headed, and  help you lose weight. If you want to join my team check out my page here! 1. Hi there! I'm curious, how long did you try the Thrive supplement for before your assessment of it?

    2. My sister sells it. There is a patch, pills and a shake for the complete Thrive experience. Most of it is caffiene and garcinia, along with vitamins and supplements. She was pushing it so hard on me (she did UR and found it too tijme consuming even though she lost 14 lb), I tried the patch and on the 2nd day my throat started to swell. It is a miracle product line that cures everything from headaches, to achy feet & back, gives you more energy, lose weight & you sleep better & on & on.. It's like getting something from Professor Marvel from The Wizard of Oz. Pictures from their recent "summit" type event showed most of them overweight in their 50's, but swear by the weight loss & energy. Diet & exercise takes care of all that without a patch. Another note, their shakes are soy based.

    6. Do your research, hon. The regular DFT has no "caffeine" in it. The author is obviously a shakeologist

    7. And also the caffeine in Le-vel products is natural caffeine from green tea which is healthy and affects your body differently than man made caffeine in sodas and energy drinks. Not all caffeine is the same. Plant derived caffeine does not affect you the same and does wonders for your body. Just fyi

    8. Ingredients of regular DFT are as follows ... Forslean, Green Coffee Bean extract, Garcia Cambogia, CoQ10, White Willow Bark, Cosmoperine ...

      Delete
    9. Pretty sure I've clarified that the antioxidants are extracted from the green coffee bean for use in the regular DFT, not the caffeine. There is no caffeine in the regular or the Ultra dft

    10. I'm dying at this...it DOES have caffeine in it - similar to coffee or tea, because it is GREEN TEA. Guarana is also a stimulant.

    11. Thrive also has whey protein and pea protein. I love Thrive. I'm not jittery at all

    12. Thrive is a all natural product. I don't know where these people are getting there facts. Thrive has less then 45-65 MG of caffeine in it. 45 MG of caffeine if taking half a packet of shake per day. And 65 MG of caffeine if taking a whole packet of shake per day.

      Delete
    13. There is no caffeine in the Dft! They pull the antioxidant from the green coffee bean. The amount of caffeine in the shake and the pill are very small. There is the black label Dft and yea it does have gurana in it ,but it it not part of the three core products. It is an add on if you want somemore energy. Maybe it's time you do some research before you trash another product!! Shakeology is a great shake I have tried it as well. They have a lot of the same ingredients. As with anything you need to eat right and exercise. There is no quick fix and Thrive certainly is not a quick fix!! Do some research!!

    5. Well you didn't research well enough. The DFT's do not contain caffeine. All three products together, contain less caffeine than one cup of coffee. The little caffeine that is in it is natural. It's not the synthetic stuff in sodas. It is premium grade nutrition. You cannot get purer, more premium ingredients.

  5. Someone needs to go back to science class. First, there is sooooo much more to Thrive than just caffeine and B12. It contains all the nutrients and enzymes that your body requires to function optimally. Second, nutrients are absorbed FASTER through the skin than by ingesting it, not slower. Maybe you should do more thorough research on a product before posting about it.

    ReplyDelete

    1. What kind of nutrients and enzymes? Do you know them?

    2. No, transdermal applications are the SLOWEST way to receive any chemical into your body.
The best way to receive nutrients is through consumption by eating and swallowing.
The fastest way to receive a chemical compound is through an IV/needle into vein, let's hope you don't want to go that far.
It's common knowledge and in all physiological texts that's transmitting through skin is slowest.

      Delete
    3. Not if you're missing 3/4 of your large intestine and 5-6 feet of small intestine because of Crohn's disease. Transdermal applications are the way to go for me and feeling great ☺

    4. And that is why we take two capsules packed full of vitamins and minerals first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, then we drink a shake that is full of probiotics, enzymes, and minerals. The patch is last, and was the last product added to the "thrive experience."

I am still looking and was happy to see this comparison until I read it. It is obvious that you sell Shakeology and that is fine but not if you misrepresent the product you are comparing it to. I would like to have seen a more realistic honest comparison. I am still debating. I do know thrive looks good because of the transdermal patch and the ultra micronised shakes. I would like to know more about shakeology shakes and how micronized they are.

I would rather take all natural vitamins and minerals that would help me and eat right throughout the day, then drink several shakes to replace my meals.. 10. Nona, GREAT post however don't forget that Shakeology does have caffeine in it. It has naturally occurring caffeine from the Green Tea Leaf. I personally tried Thrive awhile ago and I MUST say I didn't like it at all, BAD jitters and BAD nausea. I am a Shakeology believer, BEST shake on the market but I do agree that the only way to lose weight the healthy way and get healthy is by eating right and exercise. No such thing as a quick fix! And for the people saying you didn't do your research and there's no caffeine with the patch, you need to do your OWN research before backing a product, it DOES have caffeine what in the heck do you think Green Coffee Bean Extract is!!??? Not to mention the first thing you take in the morning is the pills which ALSO contain caffeine: Green Tea, Green Coffee Bean, White Tea extract. Sounds like A LOT of caffeine your taking daily in my opinion. Oh and don't forget the Shake Mix which has Black Tea also contains caffeine. Along with natural flavors that don't specify what those natural flavors are, soy (which is linked to diseases and health problems), Maltodextrin and SUCROLOSE (which is a form of fake sugar!!). Yes Shakeology does have caffeine too but it's NATURALLY occurring and in small amounts...NO ARTIFICIAL GARBAGE, NO SUCROLOSE. So yeah!

  20. So I am unbiased when it comes to these products.. I can just share my experience. I don't sell either product.

I have not tried the shakeology yet, but have been researching and am intrigued enough to try it. The ingredient list is great. I love that it uses natural sweeteners instead of artificial (yes, sucralose IS artificial despite the brand company tagging it as "Made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar"). I do find it interesting the difference between the vegan flavor and the regular flavors.. like the vegan doesn't have added sucrose, so it the source of sucrose not vegan? How does that work? I am interested in gaining energy, weight loss is only a side benefit. Does shakeology work well for this?

Now, I have tried Thrive. I did not do much research before buying it, I asked my questions to the promoter. As I said above, I am interested in energy. Medically there is nothing wrong with me, but I have very low energy (I do have a toddler!). I wanted to know how much of the "energy" came from caffeine. I was told by the promoter that there is only 65 mg caffeine through the entire day. That IS less than one cup of coffee (which I was doing already). My concern about caffeine is that it upsets my stomach. If I have two cups of coffee in a day, I will spend the whole day nauseous. And it doesn't matter if I have that cup of coffee at 6 am, I will not be getting to sleep before midnight. So when I got my Thrive and I was reading through the ingredients and saw ALL the sources of caffeine, and they were ALL extracts. I was pretty disappointed. It might still total only 65 mg (from all three products) in a day, but I would rather they just use the green coffee, green teas, white teas, etc.. The ingredient list I got from the site just listed the ingredient, but my packaging at home all says extract after each. Which means it is pure caffeine. I personally believe the more processing we do to natural products it goes from healthy and beneficial to crap. I also don't like what can be added to the product through the extraction process. (BTW I am a chemist, so I am aware of the different procedures.) That all being said, when I use all three products together, I do not get the nauseous feeling I do when I consume too much caffeine. I DO get the non-stop talking that happens when I am caffeinated. So I definitely feel the caffeine, but either the blend of caffeine with the vitamins doesn't affect me the same way or it really doesn't have that much. Also, another thing to note... it contains white willow bark EXTRACT. That is aspirin for those who don't know. It helps with your joint pains because they use aspirin. My only other complaint is that they don't use a vegetarian glucosamine. This means it contains shellfish. I don't do shellfish, so that means I will not be thriving any more. I also notice that the shakeology is manufactured around shellfish, even the vegan one. So honestly, I don't know if either product is right for me.

    1. (I'm very wordy, so here is the rest of my comment ;-) )

Overall, Thrive has given me more energy, but I am disappointed at how "natural" it is. If it contained the whole plants instead of extracts it would be much better. (A good example of whole plant vs extract... MSG. MSG is naturally found in kelp. Kelp is super healthy and there are so many benefits. If you cook your food with a piece of kelp it helps bring out the flavors, etc.. When extracted from the kelp, MSG seriously negatively affects a lot of people. I know many people who get migraines, etc from MSG. I have even read a study that MSG cause holes in the brains of mice who were consistently exposed to it in their diets.)

Conclusion... use what is right for you. If you want a more natural product go with shakeology. If you don't mind all the extracts then go for thrive. My experience with them has not been negative even if the ingredient list did not impress me. I do have more energy with it. I am interested if I will get energy from shakeology or if it is primarily for weight loss.

I'm currently a runner doing t25 gamma round ans clx three days a wk. Shakeology for two years now and no more IBS issues. It has made my husband gain weight and be more hungry while thrive does not. Haha thrive also helped me get off my hormone meds foe menopause. And I'm just happier and more chill.
Beachbody and thrive really are not comparable. It's not meant as a weight loss-- hence why see heavy people. But if lose - great. BTW I see heavy bb people too who have been working out for years. Chalene puts bro science on her videos yet even admits later to it. Not everyone is right about everything.
These are two direct sales companies. It's great bb has the challenge groups. But so many fail and leave those. Thrive gives me the inclinations to stay challenged.
Lifer to both. Basher of neither. :)

  22. I've tried both Shakeology and Thrive. Of course a promoter for Shakeology will bash the rival, it's their job to sell. It is expected. I did my best to make the shake work for me, but it didn't. I was still hungry, tired, so it did not work. I am trying Thrive at the moment, honestly I like it. We can argue all day about the ingredients, both have ingredients that are not natural. To compare only the patch is kind of silly too, the entire system are the pills, shake, and patch. Patch vs. Shakeology...seriously? Even with Nona's reply to the chemist...still trying to sell instead of just accepting the comment. Nona what did you expect, always expect negative comments. If you can't then you shouldn't be putting this kind of thing out there for people.

  25. I think that the problem is that most individuals I see selling Thrive promote it as a lineup of products that will help you lose weight and "get healthy" without the need for exercise or serious lifestyle adjustments.

With Beachbody they promote 1st a healthy lifestyle gained through proper nutrition and exercise. Shakeology is used as a supplement in the nutrition aspect that helps to fill the holes left in our eating habits. It's nearly impossible for us all to eat the right amounts of vitamins, minerals and such these days. Shakeology can give your body the complete nutrition it needs and can be a meal replacement or a drink option during your meal.

So let me ask you this.... If you were to use Thrive products for 3 months (or any health or weight loss product for that matter...), and regardless of gains or losses with the product, if you were to suddenly stop using ALL of their products would you still feel the same each day after? Would your energy levels stay the same or would you feel like your missing something?

To me the ability to not become dependent on a product for my success is key. As important as Shakeo has become in my daily ritual I am not governed by it. It's not necessary for me to stay on track with my day to day life or health and fitness goals.

Short term successes will never outweigh long term results for me. Quick fixes will never replace what a healthy lifestyle can give you. Change takes time. It takes effort so regardless of what product you use or what "amazing" results you've seen in others, focus first on yourself and where you want to be in 1,5, 10 years. Compare what products vs. lifestyle changes will give you the results your seeking.

Good luck in all of your journeys.

  26. I myself have tried both, I love the shakeology, even had a cardiologist review and he was highly impressed. Thrive did give me energy but the next day after finishing the samples I had a horrible crash. It also worries me that no one marketing it that I have spoken to is able to tell me what is in the patch due to the patent not being finalized.

  27. I've tried them both as well. I didn't like the shakeology. I went into thrive not wanting to like it and I ended up LOVING it. Since I've been a customer of both products (did my research for both before trying) I know there is a lot of inaccurate information in this thread, especially about Thrive. I get that your page was written in a way to inform/promote your biz, that's great, but I think it should be written more in words to express this is your opinion, not facts. I know if I came to someone and wanted the comparison on the products and you gave me incorrect info, I would immediately not trust you or want to use your products. Stick with giving the good info you have on your biz and don't try to go head to head with other business product facts, chances are those promoters have a lot more knowledge than you do on their products. (And you have more knowledge of your products) Anyways.... good luck.

  29. I have tried both thrive and shakeology. It is true while on thrive if you miss a day, you do not feel the same and someone who is sensitive to caffeine, did not feel well. Started out the day feeling great and by the end of the day felt nauseous. Cant really afford the 150.00 a month anymore (my nephew is a promoter). As far as shakeology, didn't make me feel sick and it was nice to use as a meal replacement or snack when you want and not HAVE to keep a regimen or basically your ruined for the day. The bottom line is you have to do what works for you. Thrive may work great for some and more power to them and shakeology may work for others. It is good to see if you are promoting a product that truly believe in that product. That's good business, but to put down each others product is not being a professional or representing that company in a positive way. It is ok to have opinions, just respect each others opinion. Not bashing thrive it just may not be for me but I have seen it work for others. Just succeed in whatever your goals are and use the product that can help you get there and appreciate that more people are wanting to get fit and healthy......that's a HUGE positive!!!

  30. I am dismayed at the Thrive bashing here. Unless you have tried it, don't bash it. I love my Thrive and would not go one day without it! Is there a little caffeine in it? YES. Less than one cup of coffee by the way. Are there lots of B vitamins? Yes! And there is a lot of other stuff in there. All I know, is it makes me feel great and has given me my life back! It has helped me on many different levels including menopause symptoms that were making me miserable and grumpy for well over 2 years! Can you take a bunch of other supplements instead of Thrive? Probably. But, who has time for that? This is as easy as 1, 2, 3 in the mornings and you will feel great! Stop bashing it before you try it!

  31. What an uneducated review! So funny, considering you know nothing obviously about Thrive and the LeVel product line or lifestyle. Hilarious!!!!!

  32. I have been taking Thrive for a few months and became a promoter at the suggestion of my upline, before fully understanding the ingredients. We have been eating clean for several years so I was dismayed to find that Thrive contains soy, sucralose, and lots of caffeine. I was off the caffeine before trying this product so I am hooked again. Soy messes with hormones and we previously eliminated it from our lives; sucralose is suspected to cause cancer, among other health problems. :(

The worst part was when I asked my upline why they use Sucralose in addition to Stevia, instead of just using Stevia, and she said "Using Sucralose keeps it diabetic friendly". Really? Poor answer.

I had our physician (holistic DO) review the vitamins and she says they are not bioavailable forms. I can no longer support this product as a promoter. I am going to try Shakeo and also continue making my own protein/green smoothies from scratch.

  33. Thrive is a joke. It's full of caffeine, hidden sugars and SOY. The company makes claims that just aren't true. I'm not a huge fan of supplements in general but I do agree that Beachboy promotes a much cleaner lifestyle and the eating plan is spot on. Not only that but they promote exercise and simple ingredients. Thrive is just a glorified energy drink IMO.

    1. Maybe you should do some actual research! You will find that your comment is completely ignorant.

  34. I found the PDF of this page of the DFT patches ingredients & don't see any caffeine. https://dmbrown79.le-vel.com/Products/THRIVE/DFT

  35. The DFT does NOT contain Caffeine, people do not become dependent on Thrive, yes you feel crappy when you skip a day, but that "Crappy" is actually just your pre-thrive everyday. The article was obviously written by someone who has never tried Thrive, and uses and promotes Shakeology. These two products are not comparable. Thrive is 3 steps and tons of nutrients in the first 20-30 minutes of your day, which fills in your body's nutritional gaps, it is more like a vitamin than anything else, and is NOT marketed for weight loss. I personally lost 23 lbs in a year of taking it, and it makes me crave healthy food, and water, and curbs my appetite and controls my sugar cravings. Absorbing nutrients through the skin is actually very effective because it limits how much the liver metabolizes and breaks down certain substances. Skin absorption means all day steady amounts going directly into your blood stream through the derma. I have friends who promote ShakeO, and it works great for them, like I said, two very different things. with Thrive, you don't have to change anything, but you will WANT to, with ShakeO, it requires a complete lifestyle change that frankly some people don't have the time or energy to commit to.

  36. As a former beach body coach, former shakeology drinker and current thriver, I can say that I am very pleased with thrive. I feel a lot more energy and elevated mood esp as a new mom with postpartum depression. With shakeo, I didn't feel as energetic but it did give me that mental check like -OK ..I ate. Did it keep me full for long? No. Does the thrive shake? Surprisingly yes and it tastes so much better than shakeo. With thrive, I have energy all day and no need for coffee or energy drinks. With shakeology, I would drink it mixed with cold coffee. And not have as much energy. I'd have to take pretty energy powder to get motivated to work out. Bottom line:eat right, drink water and workout. I don't sell either product but currently love Thrive.
